I might have tried it on a bad moment, though (on Nightly with add-on shims on, which was already heavy on performance by itself), but I'm quite sure "unlimited" would be a very bad idea. But when it increased to 200k-ish, I really started to feel the performance impact. Changed the value to 1 million (instead of 100k-ish). Firefox fans, too, have access to the same keyboard shortcut for deleting browser history as IE and Chrome users: Press Ctrl-Shift-Delete to summon the history-clearing options that are available. I once wanted to change the amount of history my browser keeps, too. If you want to change it, you have to create it first. Access Firefox profile via Firefox browser. Private browsing refers to accessing the Internet in a manner that your browsing history isn’t visible to anyone else using the same computer. It is calculated automatically to a value that won't impact performance (too hard). It's not by date, but by number of pages.
